Cohort Outing #1

My grad school cohort got together Friday evening for some R&R at The Half King. Happily we were able to be seated in the back garden, thank you Marko for being forceful and getting that taken care of. Also, it was happy hour for the first hour we were there; perfect for poor students and their SOs. We were sans Rachel and DeShawn, they were missed. It was great to meet Andy and Marko (and everyone else got to meet Rob). I'm sure we'll have many more of these outings. Somehow we must hold on to our sanity.

Pictures from the night. Naja had th
e camera most of the time, and I was glad to see one good picture with her and Andy, otherwise it was going to be the one of half her face that made the blog...

Moby's Birthday Pictures

As promised here are the pictures of our group from Moby's party. And as stated in the last post, I didn't actually take any photos of Moby, as I didn't want to be obnoxious. Rob said I should have gotten over it, so next time, I will take more pictures.
These aren't necessarily the most flattering photos, but it's what I got.

What is Going on Here

Ok, I will make it a priority to post. Then I realize that this priority is still below, school and work and sleep. So this will have to do. I'm also writing from school, so pictures will come later.
School is still hard, and a little overwhelming, but I'm getting the hang of it. I read a lot, then I read it all again, then I type outlines of everything I read. For fun I read the Twilight books. I just finished time three through the series. I can re-read things a lot.

Rob is doing great right now. Check out his blog (under friends) and see his dice cuff links.
You should also read this Wired article. The video here isn't Rob's, but if you READ IT, and click on his name it will take to you the multitude of animation Rob did do. And if you read to the end, you will read about how these videos will be released in November.

If you don't want to read click HERE and watch. Everything with "Blip" in the title is Rob's along with the interview and "Mistake" Oh, and we went to Moby's birthday party on Monday. It was fun, it was late, I didn't take a picture of Moby because I didn't want to be obnoxious and it was dark and there would be a flash. But we were there.

Picture post soon. I promise.

Labor Day

On Labor Day Rob and I went to Coney Island Beach to get some video footage for a project he's working on, and to eat some Nathan's Famous hotdogs, and to walk on the beach. Here is the only picture I took of the day.

(Coney Island Boardwalk, Parachute Drop)

In other news, I am now in week three of school. It is hard. It makes me cry sometimes. I will post a reflection post soon.

New Blog for the terrible Twos

Wow, I've been blogging for two years now. And I've mostly been consistent. I'd say I'm going to stick with this thing. So for the surprise. I've been thinking about this for awhile, and really it is still as ready as it was on Sunday, but it's a special occasion of sorts (being a blog-a-versary and all) so here it is.

I've decided it's time for a blog overhaul.

The info you don't really need: I want to get my blog tied to my correct email address. I started before I got married and was using my name as email (kaseykakes as my new email actually came from my blog because kaseypowers was taken)

So my BLOG HAS MOVED! to a new and improved home. This time around I actually did more of the coding myself in setting size and color and image parameters. As I don't know a ton about html, I really just modified the template I had, so there are a few pink and purple things that I am working on changing. If anyone knows the code for these things, the purple post breaks, the pink blogroll arrows, would love to know how to change them. It's a work in progress.

Rob says the new blog is a little more masculine looking. I think of it as gender neutral. And half of my posts are about Rob anyhow. And that is the little project I've been working on. Let me know what you think of the new design.

Since I started school, I know I want to blog about this new endeavor in my life. But I also want it to be a safe place where if I decide to maybe vent a little it won't come back to bite me. So, I am introducing DoctorK-Pow My Journey to a PhD as a private blog.

This does not mean I don't want you my friends and family to read it. It's just I need to add you to the reader list. And because Google has decided they want to take over the world, you need a google account to sign in (this does not mean you have to use google email, just create an account - if you have a google account you just need to be signed in) Anyhow, if you want to be added to the reader list, send me an email.

First Day of School

Today is my first day of graduate school. In leiu of the traditional first day of school picture, here is one from the archives. Approximately 20 years ago, I'm pretty sure this is second grade in 1989. This denim jumper was the coolest.
