Easter

Simon is a bit young for an egg hunt, but that doesn't mean he can't have an Easter basket.  I got this adorable custom bucket from Chloe Tate on Etsy. And since Simon doesn't eat candy I filled it with some other goodies: bath toys, a baby language DVD, a mini tambourine and two mini cups that match the ones Rob got me last year. Grandma Connie sent the plush bunny and Grandma Val the basket with books and the sock monkey-bunny. Mostly Simon just looked super cute. Even with all the snot.

Thankful

Thankful for a happy healthy baby.  Despite the exhaustion and hard work, Simon's smiles and laughs are the absolute best.  He's growing and changing so fast. It's hard to believe it's only been four months, it seems like forever.
Thankful for Rob who has been a stay-at-home dad, while I work many hours at school this semester. Happy that this schedule will soon be changing.  I can do anything for a short period of time. Grateful that Rob and Simon got the good together time during unemployment.  We are lucky we've been able to rely on savings to get through this and allow for family bonding.  Hoping that a job will come soon.

Thankful for family. We are blessed.

Happy Halloween

Last year I found out I was pregnant just before Halloween.  At the Halloween party we went to Ghostbusters was on.  I saw the Marshmallow Man and decided that it would be the perfect costume for baby this year.  I've had a whole year to plan this.  I even borrowed the white puffy snowsuit back in April (besides that costume it will come in handy during the snow season).  So why were Rob and I using the hot glue gun to make the felt pieces at 5pm today.  After the long trip and the long day today a part of me wanted to say "forget it".  I'm so glad we didn't.

Our neighborhood is an awesome place for kids and trick-or-treating.  Many neighborhoods in NYC have all the stores hand out candy.  The stores here do that, but there are enough single family homes that kids can go door to door too.  Watching the kids knock and yell trick-or-treat, and seeing the decorations and costumes people have while handing out candy, makes me excited for when Simon is old enough to walk and talk and have some idea of what is going on.  As it is we got a handful of candy "for the baby" which I didn't expect, and some great pictures of the first Halloween.  Isn't he just the cutest!
