Today

I am enjoying studying with a rabbit in my lap. He's happy to help me read.

I am looking forward to dinner tonight with friends.

I am happy I have bread rising in the kitchen.

I am tempted to taste some of Rob's apple pie...

I am finally ready to start the draft of the paper I am putting off (one more book at the library tomorrow, which I will add to draft 2)

Our Home 2

Foyer again. On the right and not in the picture is my IU poster from Assembly Hall that Rob framed for me. The white shelf with my purse on it holds all of our scarves, hats, gloves, and rain stuff. The shelf has some books, my school binders, and holds the mail and bills. The closet to the left holds the winter coats, ironing board, vacuum, and miscellaneous home stuff.

My desk straight ahead has Rob's old monitor, and some books. The chandelier is a hollow gourd with stained glass that we picked up on our honeymoon. My laptop (hooked into the monitor) is under the desk sitting on the archival boxes of some of Rob's family scrapbooks. Both shelves hold picture frames of family and friends.

At my desk and to the right is the living area. The table in the bottom left (you can see the corner of a green book on it) is the one from here and here. Cold case is on the screen. I've been talked our of recovering the purple chair. The rabbit is still living under the pin ball machine / craft table. There is a new picture on the wall (in the black frame in the corner) the poster from The Coney Island Film Festival. Doors to balcony, couch, Rob's arm.

Behind the couch is Rob's "office" while Josh has been living with us. He has a nice space on that table and the art from his thesis film hanging above.

Still to come: kitchen / dining, extra room / office transformation, second bathroom. Let's see how long that will take to go up...

Our Home 1

This is the view from the front door. That's my desk straight ahead. Our bedroom to the right. Even clean it's kind of a mess, so here's just a glimpse.

This is the wall from the left of the door (view from the bed) This is above my dresser. There's a chair in the corner next to the window.

I hung these pictures over the bed instead of a headboard. The bed is along the same wall as the door (to the right)
This is from the dresser. One of my bookshelves in that corner and Rob's closet.
From the closet, here is the back wall again, this is the other window, and the short hall to our bedroom. Love these carved boards I got in Brazil.

And finally our bathroom.

My bowl

School makes me busy and crazy but because I don't want to let you down I am scheduling some WAY boring posts with pictures of my house. Aunt Mary and a few others still haven't seen where we live. Rob and I cleaned a lot this weekend, so it's as good as it's gonna get.

Now for this post. My bowl. I painted this at Color Me Mine a paint your own pottery place a few weeks ago. Finally! I have a big serving bowl.

My Sister's Visit

Emily had an East Coast tour. Finally! And two weeks ago drove her 15 passenger van with it's trailer from Chicago to NYC, where she had to find a parking lot that would let her park. She did, and then she came to see me. We walked and got chai tea lattes at Joe's then went to Trader Joe's to buy snacks, and some show shopping. Before she ahd to go am meet her peeps. Then she took her group down the coast (Philly, DC) and then across the smoky mountains to Nashville, Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago and then back east through Amish country, Lake Erie, Niagra Falls, Finger Lakes, Boston and back to NYC.

Emily hooked back up with me on Saturday afternoon to drop her stuff off. She was still with one of the girls, Chin, who wanted to do some shopping, I sent them to Brooklyn. AFter that they were going to come back to Woodside, and Rob and I were going to take them all to the best Thai food in Queens. But Emily called me when she couldn't get ahold of Rich, who was also joining us for dinner to let him know we'd moved the time from 6:30 to 8. So at 6:30 Rob and and I walked up to the subway and saw a tall guy in white shoes who looked lost and asked if he was Rich. He was, so we brought him to our apartment and let him use our phone and internet to find a hostel. He didn't book in time and every room in NYC was taken. He was about to call the hostel in Jamaica (Queens) when we stumbled on a room in Harlem. Done. Emily and Chin join us and we did have the best Thai food in Queens.

Sunday Emily went to a museum with her peeps, and I did school. Oh, and Rob made us pumpkin pancakes in the morning. Sunday night we had sushi and then fell asleep watching the Colts.

Monday, Em and I had a Salon day. She bought one of these salon gift cards where you get a whole bunch of things, and it's like half price. And the girl was really sweet and didn't charge us extra for some of the stuff.

Here is the before picture:

And then after two hours, two manicures, one shampoo and cut (Emily), one color and deep conditioning (me) two blow outs (who knew you had to pay more for long hair - we did pay that one) and the promise of a mini-facial next week (me) because the facial girl was off on Monday... Here is the after picture:

Emily's hair is so long and swingy. And mine has red streaks (I told him I wanted fun)

And now I have to wait until Christmas to see my sister again.

Story of a Sewing Machine

Last Saturday Rob and I took a walk. He bought me this.

Because I had this (oh, and I got the new pink scissors too)

So I put them together.
And made the
se.
And each will get a silver string because...

Rob will use these.

To make these.
And each set will get a bag and fly to Paris.

Free pictures of cities

Where they will be sold in a store.

I'm so happy about my sewing machine.

The End.
